No, it isn’t one of Jerry’s kids. It’s Branch 828 Secretary (now President) Ken Hill demonstrating a scooter that was raffled off to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in 2003.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the national charity of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Over the years, Branch 828 has held numerous fundraisers to benefit MDA. Current efforts focus on an annual golf scramble.

The winners of the initial “Labor Strikes Back” trophy in 2004. The trophy is sponsored by the White River Central Labor Council and is given to the top
fund-raising union in the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids’ Sake.

For nearly a decade Branch 828 has been among the top fundraisers for Big Brothers Big Sisters annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake. Branch 828 has won the Labor Strikes Back trophy every year since its inception in 2004.

The major event that letter carriers organize is the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This is a nationwide event that takes place annually on the second Saturday in May.

This event benefits Hoosier Hills Food Bank and numerous food pantries and soup kitchens in the South Central Indiana area served by Branch 828 at a time when their food supplies are usually running low.
